Spring Vocal Syllabi
Music Theater I (Ages 7-11)
Goals:
  • Provide a safe and exciting environment for vocalists to discover, explore and grow their vocal abilities through stage performance.
  • Teach basic vocal and breathing technique essential to cultivating healthy vocal habits in both singing and speaking. 
  • Make students aware of the very close relationship between singing and speaking and how expression can assist in making a better and stronger sound.

Benefits:
  • Prepare students for public speaking, speech and debate.
  • Prepare students for auditions and try outs.
  • Team work.
  • Taking ownership.
  • Advance memorization.
  • Providing students with an opportunity to perform in an exclusive, custom mini-musical made just for Musically Creative.

What to expect:
  • Students will be introduced to a wide variety of essential concepts of stage performance, including how to present themselves with poise and confidence.
  • Integration of voice and stage presence facilitated through “Mini-Musicals” which will be customized for each group.
    • Content of the script will be age appropriate and relevant, with emphasis on portraying a positive message.
    • Song selections will be age appropriate and fun with emphasis on growing range, vocal strength and exploring different genres.
    • Students will be cast according to vocal and performance ability.  (each student will be challenged individually to grow in vocal and stage performance.)
    • Each student will have a vocal as well as a speaking part.
    • Students will have input regarding props and costumes.
      • Props and costumes will be every day articles that most will have on hand or can easily come by without ANY additional cost.
  • Students will get to perform their “Custom- Mini- Musical” in public.
  • Date and venue will be provided at least a month ahead of time.​
Teen Vocal Ensemble (Ages 12-16)
Goals:
  • Provide a safe and exciting environment for vocalists to discover, explore and grow their vocal abilities through small ensemble group singing.
  • Teach basic vocal and breathing technique essential to cultivating healthy vocal habits in both singing and speaking. 
  • Make students aware of the very close relationship between singing and speaking and how expression can assist in making a better and stronger sound.

Benefits:
  • Team work.
  • Taking ownership.
  • Advance memorization.
  • Teaching and improving sight singing
  • Teaching and improving singing 2-3 part harmonies
  • Prepare students for auditions and try outs.
  • Prepare students for public speaking, speech and debate.

What to expect:
  • Students will be introduced to a wide variety of vocal genres. (Show tunes, Broadway, Disney, Music from Movies, Ballads, , Pop etc.)
  • The MAIN focus and goal for this class is for individual students to develop and grow vocal range, vocal placement, strength and musical ability while learning to make beautiful music together.
    • Students will be taught to sing 2-3 part harmonies using sheet music.
    • Students will be encouraged and challenged to incorporate and apply style and technique in order to make “beautiful music together.”
    • Students will be challenged to engage, connect and express themselves through the music they sing.
  • Students will get to perform in public.
  •  Date and venue/s will be provided at least a month ahead of time.
